Genuinely Free Range Naturally Reared Lamb |
You rarely think of sheep as anything other than free range but did you know that a lot of the lamb that you buy today is finished in intensive indoor units or has been fed supplements and concentrates in order to fatten them. Even organic and rare breed sheep are normally over wintered indoors and so need to be fed concentrates.
This is where we are different.
Our ewes and lambs are naturally reared and 100% Grass fed. The sheep live outdoors all year round using natural shelters such as woodlands. We strongly believe that this natural extensive way of farming gives you a far superior tasting meat.
We lamb outdoors throughout April and May, the hardier lambs being born earlier and the less resilient later when the weather is warmer. Our new season lamb is available fresh from September through to April. From May to August our lamb is normally available frozen or alternatively we often have fresh hogget & mutton.
We produce many different breeds of lamb including Texel, Romney, Suffolk, Cheviot & Swaledale which allows us to produce new season lamb for longer and to ensure you get exactly what you like. For example a Cheviot will produce small chops & sweet meat whilst a Romney will often produce very large meaty chops & joints with a good covering of fat wheras the meat from a Texel is extremely lean.
We hang our lamb for between 1 & 2 weeks depending on age, breed & size and we pride ourselves on being able to produce a lamb suited to your taste and cut to your requirements.
Please see How to buy for price and availability.
